What is Up A Level?

Up A Level is York’s premier gaming lounge. Established in late 2024, it offers console gaming like PS5 and Xbox Series S alongside retro gaming booths (e.g. PlayStation One classics), tabletop RPGs, TCGs, board games, arcade-style and puzzle games – catering to all ages and interests

What are your opening hours?
  • Monday and Friday – Closed
  • Tuesday – Thursday 6.00pm – 11.00pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 10.00am – 11.00pm
What types of games do you offer?
  • An array on console games from modern PS5, Xbox S and Switch to Playstation 1 and a multi-retro joystick system
  • Several boxes of LEGO
  • Pac-Man and multi game Space Invaders tabletop
  • Tabletop gaming: Board games, TTRPGs, TCGs, puzzles and more
Can you give some examples of games available?

Yes, for example:

  • PS5 booth: Apex Legends, Rocket League, Overcooked 2, Tomb Raider, The Finals, Valorant, LEGO Marvel, etc.
  • Xbox Series S booth: Forza Horizon, Gears of War, Minecraft, Fall Guys, Spyro Trilogy, Roblox, Stardew Valley, Bioshock Collection
  • Nintendo Switch: Super Smash Bros Pokémon Home, classic collections, pet‑themed games, etc. More titles in additional Xbox booths
How can I book gaming sessions?

You can book consoles, retro booths, tabletop/TCG tables, workshops or special events via our bookings page. You’ll find options for booth or table reservation and workshop sign‑ups

Do you host parties or offer venue hire?
Yes! We offer party bookings and venue hire for events – email info@upalevelyork.co.uk or call to enquire.
Do you run workshops or tournaments?

Yes, we hold game workshops and tournaments as part of our events offering. Check the workshops section or booking system for dates and details.

Are dogs allowed at Up A Level?

Yes! We are a dog-friendly venue. Well-behaved pups are welcome to join you during your visit.

Is Up A Level a nut-free environment?

Yes. Up A Level is a nut-free zone. We kindly ask all guests to refrain from bringing any nut products to help us maintain a safe space for those with allergies.

Can children visit Up A Level?

Absolutely. However, children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times for safety reasons.

Is Up A Level accessible?

Unfortunately, no. Our venue is located on the first and second floors of the building, and due to building regulations, we are unable to install a lift or stairlift. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
